Easter came on Kyle's birthday this year.

This year Easter weekend and Kyle's Birthday were the same time. The 22nd. We decided that we were going to start to do our fun easter celebration, with eggs and baskets etc., on Saturday instead of Sunday. We didn't want to detract from the spiritual side of Easter, nor have to worry about the hunt and baskets and church at the same time. So we dyed eggs on Friday night with grandma and grandpa in preparation for the easter bunny to come on Saturday. Then on Saturday we had our easter egg and basket hunt and played around a bit. Then it was time to celebrate Kyle's birthday (I can't believe he's 4 already). On Sunday after church we had a family dinner and a special Easter family home evening. Joey gave a great lesson using 12 plastic eggs. Each had something to symbolize the life of Jesus. The last one of course being empty.
There are a lot of pictures in this post, just so you are warned.

Saturday Easter morning festivities. The kids have found their baskets and are showing us the little treats they got. Elise got a watch (she's been dying for one) and Kyle got a little Mater (from the movie cars). As well as some candy for breakfast.

After finding the baskets inside the kids went outside to see if there were any eggs. Elise was so funny. The Easter Bunny (EB) hid a bunch of plastic eggs and some other decorative eggs that we have around the yard. Elise would run and pick up a plastic egg and shake it expecting it to contain candy or something. It didn't (the EB ran out of time) and she would just throw it. Kyle didn't mind them not having stuff inside so much. I guess next year they will have less candy in the basket and some in the eggs.

Brendan didn't really want to participate in the hunting of the eggs at our house. He stood on the deck eating his candy and watching Elise and Kyle do all the work.

West Bountiful city holds an easter egg hunt each year. You don't really have to hunt for them, they are just laying out on the grass. They have the kids divided into age groups so that it is more even. So here we are after the hunt, a 30 second deal, It was pretty sunny so the kids had a hard time looking at the camera. Apparently I did too.

Now on to the Birthday celebration.
This is Kyle's birthday cake. He loves trucks and mud, so what could be better than trucks playing in yummy mud?

He's concentrating really really hard on blowing out all 4 of those candles.

When we say smile, this kid smiles.

Kyle really likes Transformers. This is the cyber slammer Bumblebee. It's really a lot of fun, and very easy to transform.

Kyle loves flashlights (what little boy doesn't), so this year that is what grandma and grandpa Perkins gave him. With batteries too.

Kyle loves Thomas Train, and he got a really cool set of tracks that he can put Thomas on now. It's fun to see how creative he gets when he puts the tracks together on his own. He hasn't been able to make them into a circle yet, but he still has fun.

Joey made Kyle this really cool car mat.

Now it's time to eat the cake. Yummy.

Brendan thinks so too. Just a little side note here. At a friends baby shower she received a bib that had sleeves. I got the pattern and have made some. That is what Brendan is wearing on most of him. He has figured out how to pull his arms out and does so every so often. They are great for keeping the arms clean because what baby doesn't drag their arms through their food.
